I'm afraid of breaking anything mechanical or electrical if I use the power wash, but I can't think of any oother way to give the engine and everything else under the hood a good cleaning. Thank you.Is it safe to power wash your engine compartment when you wash your car?
no at the pressure that the washer uses, so many things can go wrong. you can force water and detergent into small areas in the engine, you can short out several areas in the electrical systems, you can force water into the intake manifold, or the oil pan. if you can adjust the pressure down quite a bit, you should be ok, but avoid the ignition system. Is it safe to power wash your engine compartment when you wash your car?
Everything that happens under the hood of your vehicle tells a story. To the mechanic he wants to see the mess that is left behind because it tells him what is happening to a degree. Example: A/C compressor slinging oil will be seen on the under side of the hood, Master cylinder with brake fluid residue on it or on the booster. If you clean these areas you deny the mechanic the information that helps him determine your problem. All fluids leave certain residue and it tells a story that you may not understand. Cleaning should only be done at the advise of your mechanic. If you clean your motor and don't protect the electrical system properly you can create more grief than you could imagine. Every time I see a detailed engine compartment, I wonder what are they trying to hide. It is usually done when someone is trying to sell a vehicle.I.E. Used car dealership.
it is not safe, if your engine is that dirty, get it cleaned professionally, and it does not matter or harm the engine if it is really dirty too, so leave it alone or get it washed pro.
there's plenty of electronics in a modern engine compartment.
you wouldn't powerwash your laptop would you? Its ok for your engine to be dirty. Its normal it won't hurt a thing.
yes its safe but its good to do it once a month if the engine is dirty. i think its safe its what i do.
