I wonder what the difference is in using Thompson water sealer (or similar brand) and a clear oil based stain? What is the major difference? What is the best type of sealer to use on outdoor decks after they have been power washed?
Thompson Water seal is the best the difference is once that you put the clear oil based stain on it you have to reapply it after a couple of years, it just doesn't hold up to the weather. Oil based products do not do good outdoors espicially paint it will always crack on you and then you can never cover the crack unless you take it down to bare wood. What is the best type of sealer to use on outdoor decks after they have been power washed?
thompson isn't worth the powder it'd take to blow it to he11.
if you want clear use a boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits mix...dispose of all masking and rags by imersion in water (the solution is combustible via spontaneous combustion).
or use a product called Penofen available at any commercial paint store dealing with Coronado paints and such as that. (i don't think sherwin williams dealers deal the stuff nor do porter or benjamin moore in this area). Penofen is gawdawful smelly and ruins the clothes you wear when you are applying it, but it penetrates deep into the wood and preserves a long time, probably the best product on the market for what you want to do.
i hate the stuff because i apply alot of it, but i will use it on my own place because i won't have to do it very often at all.
All of the clear deck sealers are made from some form of parafin wax. They last anywhere from 3 months to a year. For longer lasting results try a stain with some color to it. You can get a stain with a semi-transparent color and it should last from 1 - 3 years. One of the best on the market is Sikkens SRD. SRD stand for Siding, Roofs and Decks. I will say this for the Sikkens, It is expensive but worth the money when you consider how often you have to reapply other sealers or stains. If you want to test your deck to see if it needs resealed try this. Drop 1 or two drops of water on the deck if it beads up the sealer is still good if it soaks right in you need to re-seal the deck. Hope this helps
a stain (oil based) does exactly that..stain the wood.it does not typically add protection unless a sealer is added with it.sealer (water based or water clean-up)is typically clear although it does come tinted.so really there isnt a lot of difference.i like sealers as they show more of the natural wood grain.
Thompson's water sealer for decks is fantastic, lasts for years

How long do you wait between power washing a deck and staining and sealing?
I did the whole procedure last year but when it would rain the water still soaked into the deck and now it is moldy and green in some areas. How long do you wait between power washing a deck and staining and sealing?
Ok you need to let it sit any where from 24 up to a week depending on the weather and the humidity of your area now i know that most people use Thompson's water seal to coat their decks but i want to suggest using a product call sikkens it is a little more costly than Thompson's but it lasts longer.
it is a top of the line product that can be found in your paint store ( not home depot or Lowe's ) i have 16 years in home improvement and i have tried it all
and found that sikkens works bestHow long do you wait between power washing a deck and staining and sealing?
I sprinkle Ajax ( or Comet) on my deck when it starts to rain. Then I shuffle my feet as I walk across it.
The grit adds traction, and the mold comes off.
Looks like green paste.
Then the rain washes it away.
(You could substitute a hose if it's not predicted to rain).
The good thing about abrasive cleaners is the grit gives you traction. It's like putting salt on snow and ice.
pressure wash it again and stain and seal as soon as it's drydermatitis

Hi, im power washing my vinyl siding, how close can I get to the wires coming from the street to clean mold?
Mold is on the vinyl siding but very close to where the wires attach to home.Hi, im power washing my vinyl siding, how close can I get to the wires coming from the street to clean mold?
I wouldn't blast water right onto the connection, but it should be sealed to the weather. So you should be able to go right up to the wire.
But in saying that once you get close, rubber gloves and rubber boots might be wise.

Does the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Foam Wash really work?
i'm thinking about buying it and i wanted to know if you reccomend it. i'm stressed out A LOT. when i get acne i get those irritating whiteheads and the regular pimple every-so-often. i want to keep my skin nice and acne free. is this a good product to use?Does the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Foam Wash really work?
Go for the scrub.
I like it better then the foam.
And yes, it really does work!
I used it for a month or so, and my face looked amazing.
And just last week I ran out, and my face started breaking out again, and my pores were showing more.
But right after I bought it again, the pimples started disapearing and my skin looks great again.
You probably wont notice much of a change until the 2nd week or so.
But, you FEEL it cleaning your skin.
The beads rub off dead skin, and the formula gets in really deep and cleanses your skin. Once you rinse off your face feels so clean.
You know when your mouth feels cool after you rinse out your mouth with mouthwash, or after eating a mint?
Your face has that cold, tingly feeling.
Its a great product.
I like it much better then the foam.Does the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Foam Wash really work?
listen to this, there is a good rule which say if you can eat it then you can put it in your skin. To clear your acne you must begin from inside out. Acne and pimples are a deficiency of vitamin A, so if you eat carrots everyday during a month you'll see result trust me. And when I say eat you need to eat even when you are sleeping if necessary. Somehow a large amount of Vitamin A makes your body work against acne. If that doesn't work then go to a dermatologist and tell her or him to prescribe you Roaccutane, it will cure you for life but is very expensive.
the only reason you would think that this or any other acne wash would work is because you have it in your mind set that it will because you read on the label that it would. a lot of people would believe just about anything when they see it in writing. its best to de-stress your self, body and mind first and this will clear up your face. go out and relax at the beach, take a long walk in a park, eat an ice cream cone with your kids. laugh a lot. exercise ,meditate. these things are stress relievers and a natural way to do it.. adding chemicals to your face with cleansers will just upset the natural balance of your skin and there for make it worse.
take my advice and don't use it or any other cleansers on your face including bar soap. it will clog the pours. also when you shampoo your hair make sure you wash your face off with a clean wash cloth and clean water right after while you still in the shower. the rresidue from the shampoo and cream rinse will clog your pours as well if left there after your shower.
cheers

I doubt, and have wasted much of my money on neutrogena cleansers and moisturizers. My experience with using neutrogena cleansers... yeah my skin appears cleaner but made my appearance ( I guess more as in looks) look worst. I more so experience with their moisturizers skin tightening or oily face which also makes my overall appearance worst. Then buying neutrogena deep relaxer ( for hair, which I no longer use... and manage to get my hair to start looking better without) broke my skin out badly. I don't know if this means I have sensitive skin or what, but I really would like to find another name brand and try their sensitive skin products. I just find it hard to buy another neutrogena product.

My Tappan washer will not run, it seems like it is not getting power. It quit in the middle of a wash.?
The outlet has power. Help!My Tappan washer will not run, it seems like it is not getting power. It quit in the middle of a wash.?
Probably blew a fuse on the washer.. or maybe you blew a fuse on the power box..My Tappan washer will not run, it seems like it is not getting power. It quit in the middle of a wash.?
Clothes or dish? If clothes check the switch that the lid pushes down when you close it. This switch must be engaged to continue operating. I found the tab on the lid of mine to be broken so I jammed a short screwdriver in to hold the switch down!
Check the breaker box and see if anything has tripped.

OMG YES!!!!!!! i use the whole kit of stress control and yes it absolutely works! it has a great clean feeling and it smells really good. it also keep makeup from getting clogged in your pores which is important if you use foundation. the only downside is my face got used to it because i used it for a year so i had to switch. but i definately reccomend it. hope i helped! acne be gone!Has anyone tried the NEUTROGENA stress control power foam wash?
I have tried it and it wasn't one of my favorite products, i didn't even finish using the bottle...I think it is still in my bathroom drawer. Anyways I think it is just not exfoliating enough for me, it didn't make my face feel clean.
Anyways my favorite thing to cleanse with is St. Ives apricot scrub it is amazing! I don't know what it does but I started breaking out less and when I did breakout the spots were smaller. It also gives your skin a nice glow.
yes i have tried it and it worked. I mostly have acne on my t-zone and it clearned most of it up. you really have to do it every moring and night but i do truly like it. it works better then the one i tried before it. And it has controled to nicely! :)
ps; it also smells really good too me!
Pss: plz pick as best answer! :)
I might make you mad but I have not tried it. BUT, I love all of Neeutrogenas' products. I use some of their lotion and their face wash too. Everything I try from them is top notch.

I thought it sucked it made my acne worse, I wouldn't use clerasil brand either. I have sensitive skin mixed in with my acne I reccomend the Zapzyt brand or the acne free system. They're fairly inexpensive and work well
it works differently on everybody. i like the target brand better for some reason. do any of ur friend own it? ask if i could try it next time ur at their house.

What body wash smells good and is the best, gillette hydrator+body wash, old spice live wire, gillette power bead?
just wonderin....also what is the best smelling deodorant stickWhat body wash smells good and is the best, gillette hydrator+body wash, old spice live wire, gillette power bead?
honesty the best thing to do is go to the store and smell them all, also go with a friend who is a girl and get her opinion on which one ';turns her on';. I personally use Old Spice [swagger, double impact, and showtime]. They are all from the Red Zone body wash line and my friend chose them for me, not only do I personally like them myself but they last long, smell great, has a masculine smell but not overpowering.
I've never used Gillette but I've smelled them and I feel Old Spice Red Zone is more superior, I've also tried Axe, I recommend them as well, pretty much close to Red Zone, I just like Old Spice because the bottles are clear and I can see how much I have left.
Also please do not use the body spray, it is overpowering and too much can actually make you smell bad.dermatitis

Concrete Power Wash?
Is it normal that a driveway has this gray / blue spots after a driveway power wash (see picture)? What is this? Is it possible to remove it, how?
Please look at the picture:

improper use of the washer... dont put so close to the ground next timeConcrete Power Wash?
I use to power wash my patio and driveway with a power washer and the spots look like someone really put the pressure up on the power washer and it dug in the concrete.. It took me awhile to learn how to operate one and they can actually be dangerous if you don`t no what you are doing! Some of the pressure is so powerful it can cut into something and it will be damaged... It looks like it is damaged. You can buy stuff at Home depot and refinish the top of your driveway yourself or have someone else do it..Its called top concrete surface repair...`
You washed away the surface film of the concrete. Wait five years and it will weather in and match.
Saw your pics, it's not to bad, all you need to do is power wash it again, but this time hold the wand close to the concrete, and continue to take off the finish. In a couple of weeks it will all bleach out form the sun, and you will not notice a thing. If that is going to take alot of your time, and want a faster solution, buy 2 gal. of muratic acid ,and some rubber gloves, good push broom with hard bristles, and follow the directions. This procedure is real fast, and simple.. Hope this helps, see-ya!

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment, Power-Foam Wash?
How do you like it? Does it work well? What type of results did you see?
How often do you use it?
Do you use any other products in combination with it like toners, moisturizers, masks, exfoliants?Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment, Power-Foam Wash?
i hate acne products by neutrogena! if you want something form a drugstore buy clean and clear control cleanser with the clean and clear advantage oil-free moisturizer. if you have oily skin use both in the morning and at night. if you have combination or dry skin use only at night and apply the moisturizer in the morning. dont use bad makeup! for oily skin use powder. liquid foundation and oily skin just dont work well together. an awesome powder is physicians formula mineral loose powder. it soaks up unwanted oil and helps sensitive and acne prone skin. but the last thing you want to do is put loose powder on dry skin. dry skin needs to be hydrated throughout the day. use physicians formula mineral liquid makeup. it also helps sensitive and acne prone skin. another thing you can do with any kind of skin type is go with all natural cleansers. try zyporex, its all natural and just for acne. it gives you a really clean feeling. natural can be the best thing because it doesnt contain harsh chemicals that can irritate your face rather than help.Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment, Power-Foam Wash?

Is it okay to power wash the wheels? They're the stock metal rims that came with my pt cruiser.?
Absolutely not, I repeat again, NO, NO,NO......Never, ever on the cruiser stock wheels. The reason is this, the chrome plating on the stock wheels is prone to flake, especially if you live in a climate that has SNOW.
When they put the chemicals on the road to melt the snow, it contains sodium, which will cause the wheels to corrode very quickly.
It has happened to several people that I know. I used to be a proud owner of an 04 GT Turbo pocket rocket. I changed my original wheels to after market but all the folks that keep the originals and drive them year-round, have the flaking.
Clean them with a good cleaner and wash them off, once that is done, use a good polish and a carnuba wax, this will clean and protect the wheels.
Good Luck!
RickIs it okay to power wash the wheels? They're the stock metal rims that came with my pt cruiser.?
yeah, but don't get carried away with it. You could blow the paint right off.Is it okay to power wash the wheels? They're the stock metal rims that came with my pt cruiser.?
Yes blast away.
If the paint comes off - re shoot them again.
The paint should stay on - or it was a bad paint job to begin with... ask how I know ! ! ! ! ! !
Yes its okay to do that.
you bet it's ok... if those things get damaged when you pressure wash them ,you need to put some others that have some metal on them.... just put some tar remover, and some solvant on them ,to get the road film off,and wash um up..... and ain't it good to have a clean car?.....and they look so much better, don't they?
I would say it is much better to use a good brush and a bucket of sudsy water then hose them off and detail them.A pressure washer will never do that good a job.
yes...like the others say dont spray to close and might be wise to get a cleaner from parts store to help break down the break dust that gets on your rims..esp front rims...eagle one products are generaly a good cleaner just ask counter person for best one for your type...mag...chrome...etc....hope this helps ya
yes BUT be careful...start from several feet away and dont get closser then u need to clean.....pressure washers can and do take off paint...ask how i know...

Girls, how often do u wash ur power puff?
I mean the sponge puff for compact power? How often do you wash it?Girls, how often do u wash ur power puff?
I dont use a puff, I use a brush, but I was it once a week in the colder months and every 2 days in the summer when my face is more oily.Girls, how often do u wash ur power puff?
i dont use one.
I read in a magazine that once a month should be good (also all your other makeup appliers) because bacteria grows on it (ewww)...
also, replace mascara every 6 months-1 year, and replace lipstick every year. then you wont get gross bacteria and ';rotten'; makeup :-)
Oh I though you meant our private parts! ha,ha! I use a brush for my compact powder but I don't often was that either. When I used to work in cosmetics such brushes had to be cleaned everyday but then again they were used on many different people so maybe you should wash yours once a week?
I use brushes and I try to wash them with warm soapy water once a week.
about once a month unless it really needs it.
i dont wash it i just buy a new one. i have sensative skin so once its been used with alot of make up i dont want to reuse it by just washing it. i prefer a clean one.
I don't use one, I think a brush is better.
I tried washing mine and it fell apart lol... Luckily you can go to the drugstore and they sell like a bag of puffs cheap... i think its best to change them like every 1-2 weeks, depending on how often you use them and how oily ur skin is. They also sell bags of eyeshadow applicators, those i would change as often as possible. Hugs

Luckily you can go to the drugstore and they sell like a bag of puffs cheap... i think its best to change them like every 1-2 weeks, depending on how often you use them and how oily ur skin is. They also sell bags of eyeshadow applicators, those i would change as often as possible. Hugs
Which is better. Oil free Acne Stress control power foam wash or oil free acne wash cleansing cloths.?
Both are from Neutrogena. Should I use both or just one. Which one is better.Which is better. Oil free Acne Stress control power foam wash or oil free acne wash cleansing cloths.?
i havent used the oil free acne wash cleasing cloths..but i suggest the ace stress control power foam wash, it works pretty well for me! and i have pretty bad skin!Which is better. Oil free Acne Stress control power foam wash or oil free acne wash cleansing cloths.?
Definately the wipes! It removes way more oils and dirt!
natural is better, none of the above.
Acne stress control.
It actually works.
just use one, if you use both you'll cunfuse your skin and it could break out (more) either one would be good tho
Second option is better..
For oily skin with acne try fresh tomato puree - it will remove the excessive oil and soothe the inflammation.Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne .
First off dont use anything containing salycilic acids they cause the prduction of more oil. I am not sure if neutrogena has acids in their cleansing products, but depending on the acne depends on the strength of the product you should use.

Is the acne stress control power- cream wash a good cleaner to use for sensitive and acne?
If the one you're speaking about is by Neutrogena then the answer is YES! TOTALLY!
I used to have a bad case of acne all around my nose and forehead area, so I tried lots of different face cleansers, clearing pads, pimple gels, etc. Then I began using that EXACT face wash and I saw decent results after 3 days! And yes, I have VERY sensitive skin since when I was trying out different products, I used Clean %26amp; Clear's Deep Cleaning Astrigent and it really dried out my skin for like a week.
So now I just use Neutrogena's Stress-Control Acne Cream Wash each night before bed and dab on a tiny bit of moisturizer in the morning. Trust me, Yes, It truly works (:

Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash?
Anyone ever tried this? I have a ton of stress from school and nothing seems to work, including clearasil and clean and clear. Does this work? Any other suggestions?Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash?
I've tried it and it seems fine but nothing spectacular. The smell is pleasant and it's a consistent foam texture but I don't see any significant changes after using it. Skin can be a bit tight after washing it off so be sure to moisturize directly afterwards. I would suggest trying it or possibly trying to buy one of the smaller travel sample-sizes some drugstores like Walgreen's or CVS sell to see how it works on you.Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash?
pro-activ works great!
i've used it for a little over a month now and it really doesn't do much of anything

Check out powerwashnetwork.com. Its a great power washing forum.
Bleach is good for alot of stuff, especially houses. If you can get 12% bleach (sold at pool places as liquid chlorine if you can get it) you can use the chemical injector on the power washer to apply the bleach. Otherwise the 6% over the counter bleach will need to be mixed with water and applied with a pump up sprayer. Sodium hydroxide (lye) can be used on alot of things but remember it is caustic and must be handled with care. If you use it on wood it will darken it so you will also need a wood brightener which is oxalic acid and it is applied over the sodium hydroxide solution. Oxygen bleach, AKA sodium percarbonate (oxyclean and other oxygen cleaners, white powder stuff) also works good on wood but thats about it. All the chemicals are kind of a trial and error thing. Start out weak and make the mix stronger and stronger until you find the ideal strength.
Hot water is also a good investment to make, but dont use hot water on wood and dont use it on vinyl siding. You may use warm water if the heaters thermostat is adjustable, but no more than 120 degrees, less is possible. Heat will damage wood and CAN damage some types of siding. It also removes paint alot easier.
Always use a large tip when washing wood or houses. A size 8 tip with a 25 degree pattern with my 4000psi 4gpm machine is pretty good, a bigger tip than that would be ideal to drop the pressure even more. You do not need much pressure in most cases except concrete. In fact pressure will do more harm than good.
When washing around vegitation (flowers, grass, etc) always wet it down with water first before doing anything and then rinse rinse rinse when you are done. This keeps chemicals from getting on them and sticking and then rinses everything off. Chemicals, most of them anyways, not including the sodium percarbonate which is harmless, will harm grass, plants, etc.
Also, be sure to apply chemical to dry surfaces, dont wet the surface to be cleaned down first, just the plants. Then let the chemical dwell 10 minutes or so before washing but DO keep it wet and dont let it dry before washing.
I have found a product at WalMart called McCloskeys? deck wash. (something like that, in the paint department) It is very very good at cleaning up fences and decks. I was amazed! And you dont need a wood brightener.Starting power wash business?how to mix chemicals?
I do not have a business but I use a product called Krud Kutter and it works well. They have a pretty good selection of cleaners and tells you on the bottle how to mix. It takes a very small amount to do the job. I have used it on my 20'x50' drive way and have about 3/4 of a gallon left. And also on 12'x18' deck twice and have about half of a gallon left.

Is it ok to power wash the engine of a car? Will it cause any damage? I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier.?
just make sure to cover the distributor and any other electronics stuff before spraying. Take care to not get the electrical stuff wet and you should be fine. Also, always start with a cold engine. Is it ok to power wash the engine of a car? Will it cause any damage? I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier.?
Yes, it is okay to wash your engine, if you are washing it on your own, use a litlle engine cleaner, do not use a high pressure hose or get water or cleaner into your electrical components. You should be fine. Just give some time for the engine to drip dry (LOL)Is it ok to power wash the engine of a car? Will it cause any damage? I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier.?
i wouldn't recomend it. i did it once got water in a elect. connection and had to get a new throttle position sensor.

I want to power wash my car engine.?
Is it safe to do so at the local car wash %26amp; if so, does the car need to off or on??I want to power wash my car engine.?
it is perfectly safe. i have done it for years, on my trucks, cars, and motorcycles. engine off, then the fan wont throw dirty water all over the place.I want to power wash my car engine.?
don't bother. unless you are taking it to a car show. and if you are taking it to a car show, you should clean the engine by hand. a little bit of dirt and grease on the outside of your engine wont hurt it a bit.
DO NOT WASH THE ENGINE
All the senors are on the to[p of the engine. Power washing it will short out the sensors and you will have a big expence.
WE had a car come into the shop cause it would not start, seems the guy was a fanatic about keeping his car clean.
He washed the engine and shorted out all the sensors, 1285 dollors in damage. Tat was just for the parts and not the labor.
Please dont wash your engine, or get it wet.
Dons Auto
What the guy above failed to realize is that when you're going down the road and it's raining that the fan behind the radiator draws in air that has plenty of water mixed in it, especially when it is raining hard. It is ok to wash your engine, just don't spray high pressure water AT any wires or places that you see wires coming from. You don't have to worry about not getting them wet, but don't spray water at them. The best thing that I've used to clean an engine is the citrus engine brite. You rinse the engine, then spray that stuff on there and it will loosen any built up grease and then you can rinse it off without having to scrub it at all.
since your car engine probably has electric parts (battery comes to mind right away) you should be very careful about exposing it to water; water could short the engine and make it so it doesn't work at all.
you can pressure wash engines on. try not to spray wiring, alternator, and dont spray anything inside you intake or air filter. ive pressure washed batteries before. nothing happens.
yes it safe to pressure wash your engine if at all possible, have your engine cooled if it's an aluminum block it may crack it if ti's too hot
hello yes you could wash your engine when you go to car wash use that engine soap. clean the head of the engine and every were else try not to soak the alternator just spray all the greasy parts then rinse with regular water i do it whenever i have to find out were the engine leak is located just dont spray directly into the alternator after rinse turn engine on so it can dry up
Ow, bad idea. You got all kinds of stuff that doesn't need to be exposed to high pressure nor large amounts of water. Battery, like one guy said, is a bad thing to blow up. If you get and electrical fire, it is so hot it burns the oxygen right out of the immediate surrounding area. Then you got your spark plug wires, they could just come lose no big thing. The list of why not to goes on and on, but there is a engine cleaner out, I saw it at wal mart a little while back. Dunno how it works but I would try that. Besides if wal mart aint got it, I don't need it.

Is it hard to power wash your deck? I got a price of $500-$600.?
WOW!
If I could get enough work, I'd relax and do two decks per day and make $30,000 a month at that fee.
Spend a few bucks, even buy a Karcher, at 1500 PSI or higher, and as this category suggests ';DIY';

just my two ';sense';Is it hard to power wash your deck? I got a price of $500-$600.?
No it isn't. However, unless you buy a fairly powerful one you will take forever to do a large surface because you have to hold the spray so close that it only does a couple of inches wide at a time and you have to go over stuff twice. The first power washer I had was 1300 psi(electric) and it was inadequate for larger surfaces. I now have a 2200 psi one(gas) which is much better. If you only anticipate using it once or twice a year, rent one, but it's surprising the number of places they come in handy around the house and yard. Have eye protection for any one you use, and ear protection too if you get a gas one.Is it hard to power wash your deck? I got a price of $500-$600.?
Its easy - get a Karcher Power Washer for around $200 (The cheaper ones don't really do the job - it takes forever with them)
Wear wellington boots when doing it as the sray goes everywhere.
(BONUS - you have also them got something to wash your car, boat, bike with !)
Its very easy to do it yourself.
Just run to your local hardwood store and buy a power-washer/sprayer. ($99-$300 is about what they run) And wait till you know its going to perfect weather out side and go for it. I just did My grandma like 2 weeks ago. i went ahead and did the house as well. makes a big difference and save a lot of money.
Good Luck! :)
Buy the power washer.....there a lot of things you can use it for. The driveway, the house.....and every yr the deck. Get a good one....about $250.00
Don't forget to also buy a good pair of safety glasses for your eyes when operating a power wash.
You can rent a power washer or buy one and DIY. It is not hard to do. More money in your pocket.
for that much cash you could buy a power-washer for like $99 bucks at wal-mart and do it yourself.

Do i need to power wash my deck before i refinish it?
Yes, we just hired a service this past week to power wash our wood deck and then apply a stain/protective sealant. It looks great now. The power washing gets rid of leaves and other debris, evens out the over-all color of the deck (such as where flower pots had previously been sitting), and provides a good base for the new coat of stain and varnish to adhere.
Note: The fellow power washed it one day and returned two days later--once thoroughly dry--to apply the finish using rollers, brushes, and brushes on extended handles. Two coats were applied to all the horizonal surfaces that would get the most UV rays.Do i need to power wash my deck before i refinish it?
it would probley be best yesDo i need to power wash my deck before i refinish it?
Power wash and clean, it will give a better finish.
Yes, and the best finish to preserve is after it completely dryed from pressure wash is apply with brush STP Transmission fluid or any other brand ($1. at Dollar General) for a long preserving beautiful finish.
You will not believe how great it is....

Can i power wash the inside of a outboard engine?
Chrysler Can i power wash the inside of a outboard engine?
Sure you can, but be sure and cover any openings were water could enter the engine. Such as the air intake, exhaust (if not run down and out by the prop) , and crankcase breathers if any. And also if you cannot cover the distributor you may have to remove the cap and get rid of any water that finds its way under the cap. Other than that no harm could come from it.Can i power wash the inside of a outboard engine?

STOP USING IT... just chuck it out... I was using the Neutrognea oil free fash wash for about 4 days and felt the same itchy feeling.. then it started to burn and dry out my face so I threw it out...
Neutrogena products seem to be harsh so try a product for sensitive skin such as a Cetaphil face wash....
Good luckIf you use neutrogena power foam body wash and u feel an itchy feeling on your pimple while washing ur face?
stop using it. the body wash is not meant to be used on face in the first place that's why your itching. the skin on your face is very delicate and sensitive. try to use facial soap bar or facial wash for acne prone/sensitive skin. that will suit you best.
it means that your already irritated skin is reacting to the irritants in the body wash (such as the fragrance).

Can i power wash my dump truck engine?
it is a dump truck 1993 International 9200 EagleCan i power wash my dump truck engine?
You can power wash any engine. When you go to power wash it don't squeeze the trigger just let the mist that is coming out do the work. I own a detail recondition shop and I use straight simple green as my degreaser. Put it in a spray bottle and dows it really good. Use alot and just mist it away after letting it set about one minute. It works really well. It will start after just don't spray the electrial parts to long and you will be fine. Can i power wash my dump truck engine?
if it gas or diesel you can power wash it but stay away from power steering hoses and smaller rubber lines some pressure washers will cut in to rubber lines and cause damage to them, they can also blow important vacuum hoses off engines and make them run bad,or leak, also stay away from electrical things like the alternator,a pressure washer can cause damage to most alternators, good luck and be careful,
Sure. I do my car engine(diesel) and drive away. I try not to get the engine too hot before I do it. In other words straight drive from home in the morning, less than 1/2 mile away to the power washer. I cover over air intake and that is about it on a diesel. On a gas pot, cover over the distributor as well with a plastic bag or something or don't direct all the water in that particular direction. If water gets under the cap, you normally have to wait about 20 minutes before you can start the vehicle again.
gas or diesel motor? If its diesel wash away but if its gas you can but try to stay away from the distributor once water gets into the distrbutor cap it wont start take some wd-40 along if the cap gets wet take the cap off and spray the wd-40 into to the cap and on the distibutor itself to remove the moisture it will start then
they do it every day at truck stops..... just dont spray it when it hot and dont spray into the air intake... if its a gas burner leave the motor running and dont spray so much at the dis cap or coil
Power Wash ??? How much?
How much should i pay for power wash my driveway, porch an walkway?Power Wash ??? How much?
As MJ said above me, depending on the area involved, it could run $150 or even more. I faced a similar condition two years ago and finally bought an electric pressure washer for $125 new. Naturally, I took care of what was needed at the moment, but I have found that to be one of the best household tools around. You might want to consider looking into that as an alternative. I hope this helps you.Power Wash ??? How much?
Depends on how big they are. I might charge someone with a large area $150 just because I would be supplying the pressure washer, chemicals and time for the job.

Can i wash the engine of a vq35 with power wash is it not gonna damage the engine?
i have been a professional detailer for 6 years and word of advise don't do if if you don't know what your doing you can get water in a place you don't want and it wont start i have done it beforeCan i wash the engine of a vq35 with power wash is it not gonna damage the engine?
I would never powerwash an engine. Go to an Autopart store and get some foam spray made for degreasing engines, it is usually in an aerosol form. Let it sit for a couple minutes and usually all the junk will run right off with minimal water.

Can you Power Wash rust off a bike?
If you cant can you tell me how i can remove rust from pegs, chains, and the little bars the pedals are on. (what are they)Can you Power Wash rust off a bike?
You shouldn't power wash (pressure wash) bikes in general. It will force water into the bearings. Can you Power Wash rust off a bike?
No - Power Washing will make the rust worse.
use oil and a rough cloth and this will minimise the rust.
If its really bad you may have to use sandpaper or emery paper (a fine grit paper that is more gentle)
Keith
The most effective method I have tried for surface rust on a bike is an SOS pad.
clr - (calcium lime rust remover) - and steel wool.

What's the difference between Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam and Cream Wash?
I used to use the cream, then the foam, and now I think I'll switch back to the cream one, but I just wanted to know the difference, because everything says the same thing for the ads. Thanks! What's the difference between Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam and Cream Wash?
The cheapest way to fight acne.
Your acne is cause by your oily skin. Bacteria loves oily skin. Wash your face three times a day with only warm water. If you don't have access to a sink, use a tissue paper to dry your skin (gently patting it on your skin to soak up all the oil).
For spot treatments, wash (with only warm water) and dry your face then use an unscented alcohol base hand sanitizer (like germ-x) on the spot. What's the difference between Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam and Cream Wash?
i think the difference would be that one would be foamy if you use it on your face and the other cream like . i think the foam and cream part would just depend on your preference ; they both target the same problems and both work basically the same so really, there is't much a big difference .
Its just a different form the cleanser is provided. Some people like foam and some like cream. If it says the same thing then it will do the same things its just for people who like one or the other.

What size generator would be needed to power a jet wash and carpet cleaner?
Look at the tags on the jet wash and carpet cleaner. They should indicate the electrical requirements either in amps or watts. If you are going to use both at the same time add the numbers together, otherwise choose the highest number. Double the ratings to cover startup surge current requirements to determine the size generator you require.
Is it safe to power wash under the hood 2005 accord ?
Is it necessary to clean under the hood of the car (other then the clean look).i am about to get my car detailed and the package comes with power cleaning under the hood.Is the water pressure gonna go any harm to the electronics. I also have a circuit breaker for the sound system and aftermarket hids. dont think they r water proof..Is underbody cleaning important...and is underbody powerwash harmful in any way..Is it safe to power wash under the hood 2005 accord ?
if they do it right they sould cover it up but its a 2005 i dont think you need to do this yet how man miles on it ?Is it safe to power wash under the hood 2005 accord ?
underbody is important, otherwise itll rust-and its not harmful
and powerwashing under the hood, they should cover up the electronic stuff, if they dont, then its harmful
its NOT necessary to clean under the hood of the car since your accord is an 2005, unless you're planning to take it to a car show.
yes you can power wash the motor its safe, but remember to let it dry.
i always let my car dry overnight before driving it to the friday/saturday night street races.
Should be O.K.
as long as you don't make a habit of it, over time the water will cause corrosion in the connections
I would advise not to do this only because the water pressure can mess with the electronics. I would get a nice soft scrub brush and some general purpose cleaner and then wash the whole engine down with the hose. I worked great for me. My 16 year old car looks new under the hood.
it is perfectly ok to do this but do not do this too much or it can lead to corrosion

Store manager has the power to get my wash machine fixed but refuses to. What are my options?
I have an extended warranty on my washing maching and the repairman has been out to my house 8 times. This has created a job attendance problem because I have to be at home to open the door. I have asked the store manager to replace the machine and he said he has replaced too many machines already and he's not going to do it again. I asked for the regional manger and he refuses to give it to me. What options are available to me?Store manager has the power to get my wash machine fixed but refuses to. What are my options?
Since there's a regional manager, from what you say, call a different branch and get the phone #.
Call the manufacturer...they don't like to hear that customers are unhappy or that distributors aren't doing their job.
Check to see if there's been a recall on that machine.
Just my initial thughts.Store manager has the power to get my wash machine fixed but refuses to. What are my options?
Keep calling them and calling them and ask the same questions over and over again. He will get sick of it and replace it. Also, DO NOT miss work to let them in. You make them work around YOUR schedule. YOU are the customer!!! And the customer is supposed to always be right. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. It might be worth it to just go buy a used machine for $100 and be done with it.
Go to your local TV station with your problem..... they like whistle blower cases... You will see how fast you get a new machine then!!!! Just be sure to have all your paperwork.... and if they have been replacing them their is something wrong!!!! so also call the manufacure Directly as well!!! they dont like bad PR.....
Don't go through the store, go directly to the manufacturer.

Can/should aluminum gutters be painted?they have baked on factory paint. Also, will power wash damage them?
also, house for most part is vinyl..can this be power washed without damaging? vinyl is about 4years old.house is 9 years old/painted about 5 years ago..is it necessary to put down primer and then 2 coats paint or just 2 coats is enough?(not now in such terrible condition.)Can/should aluminum gutters be painted?they have baked on factory paint. Also, will power wash damage them?
Hello BUBE: concerning the gutters... your asking about repainting %26amp; power washing gutters makes me suspect that actually your gutters are very dirty looking with black streaks running down the sides. If this is the case neither repainting nor power washing is required. Washing or cleaning the gutters with any cleaner found in your home or from your local home supply store may clean very little. A person who does commercial power washing can improve the appearance of the gutters, not by using high pressure, but by injecting a chemical in the water stream of the power washer at low pressure which is fine to do and will not result in any damage. The cause of the black streaks is chemical bonding due to electrostatic forces... ionic bonds between the metal of the gutter and the liquids that have run over the gutters. To remove the black from the gutters the chemical bonding must be broken. This is done with a solution containing a high concentration of butoxyethanol. Using this solution will make white gutters with black streaks SHINE bright white! Follow product instructions, but normally... spray the diluted solution on, wait half a minute, lightly brush and rinse, maybe repeat. The dirt and black will roll of the gutters.. you have to see it to believe it. I have attached two web site links if you would like to review the solution I am describing. Be sure to follow all product safety/usage instructions and requirements while both using and applying the product. I hope this information will be helpful to you.Can/should aluminum gutters be painted?they have baked on factory paint. Also, will power wash damage them?
power wash will not hurt vinyl, use 2500 psi washer or less
eavestrough can be painted, but take all flkes off first use primer, eavestrough can be replaced for about$2.50 a foot or less if you shop around
To add to the answer above--I'd prime the gutters before painting--if you say they're not in such terrible condition and have a factory finish, I doubt you have chipping paint to worry about, but if you do, it has to be removed. A little TSP or TSP-substitute in the washer, followed by a thorough rinse will remove chalking and give the original paint a ';tooth'; that helps primer and new paint stick. Make sure when you're power-washing you don't blow water up under the siding.
Incidentally, a quality paint job by professionals should last a lot longer than 5 years, even in areas with severe weather. If you are having problems with flaking/peeling paint, you probably have underlying moisture problems that need to be addressed before re-painting. Since most of your house is vinyl, you should be able to afford the time and money to fully prep (clean, scrape, sand) the areas you need to paint, and use highest quality primer and top coats (go to a real paint store, eg Sherwin-Williams, Columbia, etc, not HD or Wal-Mart).

I have a 1996 nissan maxima if i power wash my motor will it mess it up?
a friend told me if i leave the car on nothing would happen but i am not sure if thats trueI have a 1996 nissan maxima if i power wash my motor will it mess it up?
I prefer to power wash when the engine is cold and not running, then let it sit and dry for 30 minutes or so. I've been doing it for as long as I can remember and it has never caused a problem.I have a 1996 nissan maxima if i power wash my motor will it mess it up?
I wouldn't clean it with the motor hot. Use a degreaser, let it set for a few minutes and then spray it off. Just be careful around the electrical components when you do. If you do get a little moister in the distributer and it won鈥檛 start or runs funny then just let it dry out and try it again.
it pays to wrap ignision parts in plastic/tape....wireing harness joints too...ive washed dozens over the last 40 yrs both running and not....9 of 10 times no problem but that one time...oh man...easy on the power part of the wash...it goes onto alternator,,and every little place..
One simply word: NO
not at all. have at it.

If my car windshield has a crack in it will going through a power car wash cause more damage?
It could if it's cold outside, and when the hot water hits the windshield. Otherwise, it shouldn't hurt it.If my car windshield has a crack in it will going through a power car wash cause more damage?
Probaly not! At least not unless it is going to ';run all over the place'; anyway! At worst, it might only make the inevitable happen faster!
Now, if you had a very small diamond drill, and some kerosene (for cooling the drill), you could drill a very small ';stop'; hole below the crack, and it will stop at the hole! (This is how cracks are stopped in plexiglass)! After the hole is ';stop drilled' then it is meticulously cleaned out, and a ';windshield repair'; kit that is filler to stop ';bullseye'; holes from expanding and ';repair glass'; could be used to fill the hole, then the repair would hardly be noticeable.
There are a few people around who can do this, - they advertise that they repair ';cracked glass';. Their process uses a sort of ';high pressure'; connection to push epoxy liquid up inside crack and back from damage some distance,- sometimes the crack can be pretty effectively eliminated form your vision! But this shoud be done before the windshield gets wet, as water can get down in there, and can't get back out! Cover the crack with clear tape asap, - till you can get to somebody and see if they can fix it! All I can say is that it will be cheaper than a new windshield,-but may be visable in some places!dermatitis

Can I wash a 600 Power Goose Down Sleeping Bag in a regular washing machine and dryer?
It is a slumberjack and needs to be washed? Can I wash it like above, or no?Can I wash a 600 Power Goose Down Sleeping Bag in a regular washing machine and dryer?
With goose down, it always says not to machine wash, because the down will gather in concentrated spots. I wash my goose down stuff in the washer with cold water, but the trick is when you put it in the dryer. Put something heavier in there with it and it will keep the down from gathering. With the tumbling and the heavy object, it kind of beats it to keep the down everywhere. Also, take it out of the dryer every 20 minutes or so and make sure it is drying through, not just the outside. Flip it around. Can I wash a 600 Power Goose Down Sleeping Bag in a regular washing machine and dryer?
I wash and dry my sleeping bags in the large front-loading ones at the laundromat so they have more room. And yes with a sneaker or two in the dryer to help fluff them Report Abuse
I believe this would depend on the size of your washer and the size of your sleeping bag! Have you checked the sleeping bag over for tags that might give washing instructions? If you have a large capacity washer, you should be OK. Try putting the sleeping bag inside the washer without any water in it to see how well it fits. If it looks like it does, then you should be able to wash the sleeping bag like you would a comforter, on regular cycle. When drying the sleeping bag, use dryer balls or buy some new tennis balls to put in the dryer with the sleeping bag; this will help to move the sleeping bag around in the dryer so that every part will get dry.
yes on gentle cylces...when you put your duvet in the dryer throw a large dry towel in there with it the towel will help to evaporate the water from the down more quickly and help to fluff it back up so not put in a hot dryer med ium heat is sufficient.
no!!! it will clump the feathers

Its too bad they painted that beautiful cedar. You could've just stained and sealed it. As far as getting paint off, I doubt your going to be able to scrape it, its too rough. You will need to use a stripper..use something environmentally friendly for easiness. Then you can powerwash all the gunk off. If it turns out well, just stain it this time.

I want to purchase a generator that is powerful enough to power a jet wash and carpet extraction machine?
( carpet cleaning machine) does anyone know how i can work this out?I want to purchase a generator that is powerful enough to power a jet wash and carpet extraction machine?
You really need to know 2 things:
1. The Voltage that the machine uses (115VAC or 240VAC or ...)
2. The maximum current draw of the machine (13 Amps or whatever)
You must multiply both the above numbers together to get the power you need. For example, if you have a machine that works on 240 V and draws 15 Amps, the power is 240 x 15 or 3600 Watts.
You must then purchase a generator that is capable of providing that amount of power (3600 Watts), and has a Voltage output (240 VAC) that matches the input of your machine.
That's it.

That's it.

Will I be able to do power wash on my house myself without paying some company to do it, If so what do i need?
Almost all rental companies have pressure washers for rent. Rent one and ask what chemicals they recommend to use for cleaning your houses exterior. I have done mine prior to painting and it worked very well. Will I be able to do power wash on my house myself without paying some company to do it, If so what do i need?
You can rent power sprayers from rental companies. That's what commercial companies use. Will I be able to do power wash on my house myself without paying some company to do it, If so what do i need?
All you need is persure washer and maybe a brush with a long handle.
Be very careful with rental power washers. The commercial models run at a very high pressure and can damage even concrete if not used properly.
I would recommend you begin with the low pressure models like those sold by Karcher.
You can rent a power washer or buy one. Be careful with your power settings so you don't strip your house or break anything.

Should I power wash my house before painting or sand it? or sand it then power wash it.?
I definitely suggest power washing the house before you sand,,,, This actually works very well at getting the loose paint off.
Be careful not to get too close, the direct water pressure can do some damage to wood. Also let it dry real good before sanding and painting.Should I power wash my house before painting or sand it? or sand it then power wash it.?
More than likely you will be utilizing a power belt sander. If you are sanding the whole house than I would power wash after the sanding to clear the wood of all sand dust. I think you are wasting your time and water by power washing prior to sanding. Power wash at a safe distance (36'; away from wall) after sanding to prepare wall for painting. Let it dry completely before priming. Good Luck!Should I power wash my house before painting or sand it? or sand it then power wash it.?

!URGENT! how much should i charge to power wash cars at a car delership?
I have been offered a job of power washing cars for a dealership, but i dont know how much to charge to do this. how much should i charge per car??need to let know now!!thanks !URGENT! how much should i charge to power wash cars at a car delership?
I think you should tell us how long it usually take for you to powerwash a car and go from there. if it take you 10- 15 min then and you can do 4-5 an hour i think $10-15 a car is good, so $40-65 an hour to cover your costs seems okay.

Is it necessary to power wash a deck before waterproofing it?
If it is a new deck, then no.
If it has been in place for a while, it depends on whether the aging or mold if present, is something you want to seal in place before treating it?
There are claeners that don't require power washing, just a brush to apply and scrub if the buildup isn't real bad. (Buy a brush on a hnadle like for washing a car, so you don't have to do this on your knees.)Is it necessary to power wash a deck before waterproofing it?
Not sure it's absolutely necessary, but every deck I've seen with any age at all to it has a buildup of dirt, gunk, junk that floats around outside that certainly dulls the look of the wood. If you want it to look more like new, then, yes, it's necessary. You can rent a fairly powerful power washer at most any rental store, for a fairly minimal amount. Is it necessary to power wash a deck before waterproofing it?
yes you need to get the dirt %26amp; grim out !
If you do power wash take care not to use to much pressure. It is possible to do a lot of damage to wood decks with a pressure washer.

Finally, call up a cleaning company, pretend you are a customer and ask them to give you an estimated cost based on the job you describe. How much do i charge to power wash a 2400 sq.ft. home and driveway?
Check the yellow pages and ask other companies what they are charging, remember they are including the cost of advertising in theirs so you can decrease the cost of your service and give you an idea of what the going rate is. Decrease maybe 10% and divide by sq ft to give you a rate for other homes, separate cost for driveways %26amp; add extra if multi story ( for use of ladders ).

How many times a day should you use Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash?
So far, I have been using it once a day for about three weeks and the results have been very, very small; almost none. Does this mean I should use it more than once? How many times a day should you use Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash?
Twice a day for all facial regime washes. If it dries out your skin make sure you have a toner and cream. How many times a day should you use Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Foam Wash?
just once it will wash all your natural oils away if you use it more than that
If you over wash your skin, you may strip the oils from it and cause even more breakouts. Read the directions, does it say to use it more then once? Maybe morning and night? Or you could just face that it might not work for your skin and go to something else.
use it no more than twice! day and night. it takes almost 6 motnhs to see results, long time thats the time skin reacts to a new product. just be patient
one to three times..like in the morning..midday and at night...reduce back to two or one..if it bothers u, otherwise this should help!
as many times as it says on the bottle, but careful over cleasing can make you brake out more
I think once a day should be enough.

Does it hurt to power wash a human?
Like with a power washer would it hurt if you put the water on someone?Does it hurt to power wash a human?
yes it would hurt, probably pull away some skin.Does it hurt to power wash a human?
Physically, it depends upon the distance. But if you power wash somebody against their will they probably won't like you very much any more.
This question does not belong in the health section. How stupid...
But, yes, it would probably hurt.
yes..it WILL take the skin off...
Let somebody try it out on you and then come back and tell us how it went..genius.
honestly, I dont know but i've always wanted to try.

Was I rude to tell my girlfriend that she needs to power wash 'cause her cellar is smelling a tad mildewy?
Honestly, what is her problem? %26amp; Why is she so darn sensitive?
One last question, anyone know what ointment is best to fix scratch wounds? Was I rude to tell my girlfriend that she needs to power wash 'cause her cellar is smelling a tad mildewy?
Make sure you tell her to scrape all the gunk out before power washing. If it's really that bad, you're going to have some water bill this month!!Was I rude to tell my girlfriend that she needs to power wash 'cause her cellar is smelling a tad mildewy?
She didn't break up with after that comment? You're lucky. I sure would have. That's rude. It's one thing to tell her, nicely, that there's a problem but to tell her she needs a power wash? That's just wrong.
Um no......I would tell her too. I dont like rotten fruit!!!
Edit: I was assuming you didnt really say it in that manner! IF you did then it wpuld have been better if you would have said it a little nicer
You gotta admit that's not very nice...

Can you damage your skin if you power wash it?
well i installed my powerwasher this week to clean some paint off my garage, and i noticed that i can tear threw many layers of wood. so i was wondering if you powerwash your skin what would happen?
*please note im not stupid enough to try it on any living object*Can you damage your skin if you power wash it?
I have seen toes severed. I actually saw a man lose his arm with a burst hydraulic line. pressure washers are the same thing- liquid under high pressure. Can you damage your skin if you power wash it?
yes !! high pressure water can actually go through your skin , causing you to get water and air beneath it .. very dangerous !!
I think if you tried it on wood, the same effect would happen to your face. Don't try this at home :)
Oh yes... some powerwashers will crack concrete.....

How do I power wash a dirty BBQ grill?
USE A POWER WASHER?How do I power wash a dirty BBQ grill?
Oven cleaner works well. The oven cleaner brand people even make cleaners specifically for grills now too.
Also, if you have, or have access to, a steam cleaner, they work great as well. Nothing melts away layers of fat and grease like burning hot steam.
Ugh....you reminded me that I'll need to take on this task sometime in the near future as well. Thanks a lot. ;-DHow do I power wash a dirty BBQ grill?

Is it safe to power wash my car's engine?
If yes ,the engine has to be running? Is it safe to power wash my car's engine?
Sorry, not a good idea because there are a lot of electrical and electronic components under the hood and you are forcing a lot of water under high pressure into all sorts of places. Why not try a degreaser instead? Even then I would still be careful around electronics. Power washing is fine for exteriors. Is it safe to power wash my car's engine?
No do not have the engine running you have a lot of electrical wires that possibly could get wet. Best thing is first cover the alternator with a plastic bag usually a grocery bag, then get some simple green and a small brush and spray down the entire engine bay and use the little scrubber to break up the dirt then lightly hose down the engine and repeat with the simple green. I guarantee you that engine bay will look almost new when finished. When you are all done remove the bag from the alternator start the car and let the engine evaporate the rest of the water....
YES IT IS JUST DON'T STAND TO CLOSE

Should they power wash the house before installing vinyl siding?
This house is brick with painted exterior wood trim, gabels, headers, soffits, etc. I plan to install vinyl siding to reduce maintenance costs. I hate the thought of them installing new siding over the dirty exterior wood. Hence, my question.Should they power wash the house before installing vinyl siding?
don't bother with washing it. if there are bare wood surfaces and you have left over paint that you want to get rid of, slap it on. you really have to worry more about condensation than how clean it is under the siding. and even that is not a big concern. i have never found a clean house under a siding repair or re do. i've been doing siding since the mid 80's and even if you have a bare spot or two, it will dry out in quick order, once it's sided. good luck, and enjoy the new siding!Should they power wash the house before installing vinyl siding?
I would only wash it, if it excessive. Otherwise a little dirt will not affect anything. Mold however is a different issue. Make sure, nothing is rotting or starting too.
Also make sure all areas to be covered are dry prior to application to avoid trapping in moisture which could initiate mold if it does not dry quickly enough
I would not recommend it- the wood will not dry well enough and then you'll have mold and mildew under the siding and bricks hold moisture longer than wood so I would defiently say NO!Who cares if the wood is dirty-no one will see it afterwards anyways!!
Why worry about it. Once the siding is up dirt will work it's way in behind the siding anyway, %26amp; collect there.
You will be adding to the labour costs of the installation unneccessarily.
what go will washing do if you won't see it?
Why does it matter if the ';exterior wood'; is dirty if it is going to be covered up? It is not necessary to pressure wash before you put on vinyl siding. It would cost money, time and it is pointless.

Do I need a special solution to power wash my house?
My house has vinyl siding and mold spots have formed. I have the loan of a power washer and need to know if I should purchase a special solution or soap to use in the power washer.Do I need a special solution to power wash my house?
No you don't need a special solution. Try using the washer with out any thing. If the mold spots don't come out use bleach in your injector. If you don't have an injector you will have to spray it on by hand or by a garden hose sprayer..Do I need a special solution to power wash my house?
No.. The power washer will remove it all easily.. No detergents or additives required..
Mold comes off vinyl with just water, but bleach speeds up the removal. Don't buy the special bleach, Clorox laundry bleach will work.

How long after we power wash the house do we have to wait to paint it?
Its a breezy sunny day.How long after we power wash the house do we have to wait to paint it?
if there is no prep work to,like scrapeing, filling holes, ect, you can prime it in 24hours,wait 24 houes and paint, you want your house dry before you prime andor paint, depending on what type of paint you are going to use.any question feel free to email meHow long after we power wash the house do we have to wait to paint it?
That depends! If there's peeling paint then wait 3 days for the surface dry and let the escaping moisture pop off anyother loose paint. Otherwise just wait 2 while doing any repairs or prep like caulking.
make sure it's dry, 12-24 hours. test it if you can't wait.
good luck.
probly just a hour or 2 if it is wood if is palsitic as soon as it looks dry

I want to power wash my house?
Can I use Original Scent Pine Sol? I heard it's good for power washing.I want to power wash my house?
Hi.. soft and sweet....Treat your pressure washing just like your name .....just soft water and sweet and easy on the pressure as not to tear up your siding and window screens ,etc. To much pressure will damage everything....but it's a wonderful way to prepare your home for staining or painting.......I do my driveway and home and car that way....but always easy on the pressure. Good luck...........have fun..........be careful with shooting toward your hands or anything else.....you really can get hurt....I had a friend loose a finger buy putting it over the tip of the gun to check pressure and of course he had to much pressure and drove the water right into his finger............soooooooooo.......Don'鈥?be afraid ......just use some common thinking and have fun. It's very easy.I want to power wash my house?
That's a bad idea because anything you use to wash your house is only going to go into the soil and then into the water table. You do not want to do that to the ecology. If you must wash the outside of your house, a very weak solution of bleach and water is the strongest thing you should use, and I wouldn't use even that.
I have a white vinyl house and I find the rain does a pretty good job all by itself. When and if I am ever motivated to wash the siding I won't powerwash it, because that can cause lots of problems with water incursion under the siding, but I will get one of those extension attachments for my hose and I'll probably use a solution of white vinegar and water. That's about the strongest chemical I'd suggest using.
The first answerer is correct. In my area, there's even laws about what you can wash with (your house, cars, etc) because it goes back into the groundwater. There's also laws about picking up your dog's poop in your OWN yard for this reason. :)
i have never heard of it.people just use plain old water.

How much does it cost to power wash a 1500 sq ft house and a 180 sq ft deck?
I am looking to see if anyone knows how much it cost to power wash (pressure wash) a 1500 sq ft. house and a deck 180 sq ft. the deck will be stained also. thank youHow much does it cost to power wash a 1500 sq ft house and a 180 sq ft deck?
the only way to get an honest and true answer is to contact contractors in your area and get quotes. How much does it cost to power wash a 1500 sq ft house and a 180 sq ft deck?
It would be cheaper to buy your own pressure washer and do it yourself. you can get an electric power washer at your local home store for less then $100. and wash it yourself and get a better job. Just pre soak your house/deck with a combo of bleach and water. By the time you get done spraying with the mix you can pressure wash it. Its not hard to do just a lil time consuming!

Will it harm a mobile home vinyl siding to use a power wash on it?
I have a mobile home with vinyl siding and want to wash it with a power sprayer and want to know if it would be harmed? Will it harm a mobile home vinyl siding to use a power wash on it?
Probably a good idea to reduce the pressure a bit, but it won't do any harmWill it harm a mobile home vinyl siding to use a power wash on it?
If you use the right tip on it it won..t vinyl siding can get brittle after a few years..and yes a high pressure commercial washer can literally bore through concrete with a zero degree tip on it..You need to use at least a 35 degree tip on it unless it is a cheaper electric model with an adjustable wand..do not use bleach on vinyl siding for it will weaken it and discolor or lighten the siding up after it sets a few weeks..use TSP on it for the dirt and mildew..available in any hardware store usually in the Paint section

How much should it cost to power wash a 3000sf house.?
Only one side of the house has any significant mold. How much should it cost to power wash a 3000sf house.?
This would differ on a home that is a ranch or a multi-level structure in our area. If it is a ranch, in the suburbs of St Louis it would run you about $500-600. If a 2 or more story, then you are looking upwards of $1000 due to the fact that it takes more man hours and equipment. Also, with bad mold chemicals can get expensive and if not attended to right away, it could already be growing under the siding and that is another expense in itself. Good Luck, next time, hit the mold before it spreads! How much should it cost to power wash a 3000sf house.?
If you are having it done, you would need to look at local labor costs. Assuming that you are providing the water, you will probably be paying at least $10 per hour. If the person doing the work is reliable and stays working, it would probably take between 6 to 8 hours. This includes the setting up of the equipment and packing it back up when done. Any chemicals used would be extra. Getting bids would be your best bet so that you know about any other costs.dermatitis

Can I power wash my concrete patio in cold weather?
I'm being told that if I power wash my patio in cold weather it will cause it to crack. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? It seems to me it won't make a difference but it never hurts to ask.Can I power wash my concrete patio in cold weather?
Depends how cold... the thing to be worried about is that water will seep into the cracks of the concrete and (if cold enough) freeze. Ovbiously when water freezes it expands and will make any cracks in your patio larger. (Keep in mind temps are colder during the night so if you do decide to wash it give it as much time to dry during the day as possible!)
Good LuckCan I power wash my concrete patio in cold weather?
If you are using a steam , or hot water power washer, someone might think it would crack, because of it getting hot and then cold, but it won't. You could hurt the power washer, if it freezes up, but not the patio. It rains and snows in the winter right? So your patio is getting wet and sometimes freezing, right?
NO not if its cold it will crack the cement most likly to happen in spring or if it gets warm then cold again so NO!!!!
As long as the temperature will stay above freezing and you have plenty of daylight to dry out your patio, the outside temperature shouldn't matter when you power wash your patio. If it's freezing, the water can get down into cracks and freeze. The freezing water expands and causes the crack to grow larger.

Is there a cheap hose attachment that will let me power wash a fence or do I have to rent a power washer?
I want to power wash my fence and I'd rather buy an attachment for my hose (if there is one) than rent a power washer. Do you know if this is a possibility? Is there a cheap hose attachment that will let me power wash a fence or do I have to rent a power washer?
you can get special jet nozzles at home improvement centers. They won't be as good as what a pressure washer will give you but it's a lot cheaper.
Watch sale papers because you can get an inexpensive pressure washer that will do the job fairly well. Saves time and water too;-)Is there a cheap hose attachment that will let me power wash a fence or do I have to rent a power washer?
there are gimmicks
there is no fitting that can increase the pressure of your water....in fact it's just the opposite.....the gimmick fittings actually decrease the pressure but increase the velocity slightly but creating a tighter orifice for the water to squeeze through
It's never going to be enough to pressure wash a deck or a fence
there is no way you can get a nozzle and screw it on ur hose and the pressure will increase! house pressure is around 50 maybe 70 psi........... power washers step up the pressure to around 1500 psi or even higher

Is it safe to power wash the engine compartment of my Civic '07?
It's been almost two years since I bought it and the engine compartment got pretty dirty. It has never been washed and I was wondering if I should cover anything (like battery or sparkplugs connectors) before a power wash.Is it safe to power wash the engine compartment of my Civic '07?
if i was u i wouldnt power wash anything under the hood. It may not affect anything the first time but it might if you keep wahing under it. you may be able to wash some things with a squirt bottle and rag so your not soaking anything in water or putting alot of pressure on any componets. But if u insiest on washing under the hood the make sure u cover you disteributor car and as many sensors as posable, and cover your battery for safe measures. I clean under my hoood of my 2000 honda civic ex but i use a rag and little bits of water at a time. hope this helps ~BEN~Is it safe to power wash the engine compartment of my Civic '07?
NO Rice swells in water
power washing the engine bay in not a good idea and that guy that said to turn on the car as you do it is the WRONG idea. If you want to clean it do what you can with a wet rag or towel, Washing with the engine on can crack the block and kill the engine.
cover all electricals, anything with a wire
take it to a car detailer watch them do it and u can see what u need to cover up so later n life u can do it yourself...
also if anything stuffs up wit the electricals the car detailer will be held liable for it....
I've always washed by car engine by simply turning the car on and letting it run while I did the wash. This keeps the water from setting on the electrical parts. Leave the car running for a few mins afterwards to let it dry out good.
water and electric doesnt really get along. but if you have time you can get a can a brake cleaner and wipe it down. it wouldnt harm wires and plastic. and it wouldnt leave any marks.

Is there a way to test deck wood to see if power wash is necessary?
How long should one wait before sealing or staining decks and fences - is there a rule of thumb with how quickly grime sets in where you have to treat the wood first before staining.
Any opinions on what to use other than power washing to clean the wood.
Also, since oil-based stain is going to be banned, what water-based stain and colors work well and how long do they last.Is there a way to test deck wood to see if power wash is necessary?
If you used a good quality of pressure treated wood you can stain it right away. All wood decks should be cleaned and sealed every year if not then 2 years max, that is why everyone is going with the composite decking for their decks now a days. No or very little maintance. It may cost a bit more at the begining but in the long run it will be worth it.Is there a way to test deck wood to see if power wash is necessary?
My rule of thumb is that if it is a wood deck it ALWAYS needs to be power washed and sealed or stained. It seems that way anyway. The composite materials mentioned above are the way to go.

Need ideas to power wash outside of house? Second story would be safety risk to climb a ladder?
Any ideas on how to reach up high to the upper part of siding near roof. I think a regular ladder would be unsafe; you could get blown backwards from pressure coming out of the hose. The power wash head must get close to the siding to really clean it.Need ideas to power wash outside of house? Second story would be safety risk to climb a ladder?
get a scrub brush like the ones at a car wash get on a ladder and scub with bleach and water. then use your power washer to wash the extra bleach water left behind. I clean my house 2 times a year with those broom/brush things with a bucket of bleach water and a normal sized ladder :)Need ideas to power wash outside of house? Second story would be safety risk to climb a ladder?
Both previous answers are good. They make extensions for pressure washers and them make extensions for scrub brushes. I would use the extension on a scrub brush and a hose nozzle. The pressure washers that I use can peel the paint and even shred the siding off of the house.
They make extentions for power washer wands with which you can reach a second story from the ground.dermatitis

How much does it cost to power wash a house?
I own a two-story New England style house with a deck on the back. How much does it cost to power wash a house?
13 cent per sf.How much does it cost to power wash a house?
you'd be better off buying a power washer instead of renting one. don't get a cheap model, get something that's around $200.
I have a two story. I had only the house done %26amp; did the deck myself.
I was charged $200
It is a lot cheaper if you rent a power washer, and do it your self.
